CLAVEL
Born in Paris, Françoise Clavel studied at the École Nissim de Camondo and works as a costume designer in both theater and film. Among others, she has participated to several movies of Olivier Assayas, in particular “L’eau Froide” and “Irma Vep”. She worked closely with Andrea Breth, for whose productions at the Vienna Burgtheater she designed numerous costumes from 2002 to 2020.

The Rats is a stage drama in five acts by Gerhart Hauptmann. Set in Berlin, ‘The Rats’ begins with a personal state of emergency: Heavily pregnant servant girl Pauline Pipercarcka seeks refuge in the attic which theatre manager Harro Hassenreuter uses as a props room. Here Pauline hopes to secretly give birth – with Mrs. John’s assistance. But nothing goes according to plan.
